Tears of Light - Part 10: The Passage of Time

AN: This chapter travels through everyone's thoughts as time passes, in between
each person's thoughts a lot of time is passing. Just so there's no confusion!
Also I would like it known that I HAVE now seen the original gravity room, how
it was created, etc. So while that does not affect this story in the slightest
I felt that I should mention it here.
Oh and to Stef-chan no baka who thinks that me actually getting a story part out
is worthy of a fainting spell......... *just chuckles slightly* I hope youenjoy
being permanently unconscious!
Disclaimer: Lets see..................... hmmm... *peers up from a large book*
nope, nothing in here about me owning Sailor Moon or Dragon Ball Z. I guess you
can't sue me since there's no profit in this either. So the 15 dollars I just
earned are MINE! *looks around dangerously* I could get a MANGA with this!
Don't you understand? It goes to you anyway!

Usagi sat on her temporary bed, staring out at the night sky. After the
gravity incident she had woken up in some recovery room in Capsule Corp with
nothing at all wrong with her. She spent the next few days relaxing, trying to
get over what had happened to her and trying to avoid Vegeta. It seemed that
while originally she had been an annoyance that was fun to toy with, she was now
an enemy that he was forced to ally with. She sighed, she didn't want him to
view her that way, but the stubborn prince had too much pride and to see the
tiny little girl that she was suddenly have so much more power and be able to
withstand all that gravity must have really hurt him. He wouldn't admit the
hurt though, Usagi knew it, he would just continue on as the normal, stubborn
Saiya-jin he was.
She turned her thoughts away from Vegeta, the fact that she couldn't be
friends with him no matter how hard she tried was starting to grade on her. So
she smiled and thought of Mamoru. He was sleeping now and she felt as if she
were sitting beside him, looking onto his sleeping figure as she had done many
times before when he was studying hard and exhausted himself. When he slept he
looked just like a little child, trusting completely in her to keep him safe.
She smiled softly and started brushing out her hair. She longed to be with him
again, to feel his arms around her, to feel his warmth, to stare into his deep,
soft, caring, blue eyes. For now, however, the gift of just being able to talk
to him so intimately made her happy. She slid into her bed and closed her eyes,
joining her love in the world of dreams.

Bulma sat at her work station tinkering away at her latest invention,
thinking about the events of the last few weeks. She put down her tools in
controlled frustration. She couldn't work when her thoughts were filled with
questions left unanswered. As much as she hated to admit it she couldn't get
him out of her head. The fact that he had even bothered to save her life gnawed
at her, but there was oh so much more. His strong arms wrapped around her
waist, the way he held her even when the danger was long past. The feel of his
breath on the back of her neck, and the way her skin tingled.
She put on a light jacket and wandered outside, it was early morning and
she suspected that no one would be out except for her, who had been woken by the
sound of some bird at her window. She needed to clear her head, she couldn't
accept the thoughts that were running through her head! She was waiting for
Yaumcha to come back and get back together with her and that was it!
She kicked a rock in frustration and started marching back towards her bed
to see if she could get some more sleep when an explosion shook the ground. She
whipped her head in its direction to see smoke billowing out of the gravity
room. 'Just great!' She thought to herself bitterly, 'guess I'm going to have
to go fix it.' And with that she stormed over to the building to give Vegeta an
earful for breaking her machine. At least that was something she could enjoy
doing.

Rei knelt before the sacred fire, trying desperately to get a reading on
their newest enemy, to no avail. Every time she looked into the fire all she
got was an eerie darkness. She supposed that she was getting something, since
their enemies were shadows. But she couldn't see anything but darkness. The
attacks lately had been few and far between, but she knew it was only because
Mamono was up to something. She had to be!
She left the sacred fire to go get a drink as she was totally dehydrated.
She passed Yuuichiro on the way and smiled at him, she knew he was concerned
with her welfare. She was mean to him sometimes, but deep down she cared for
him a lot.
**********
Goku lay in bed staring at the ceiling. He had just finished an extensive
training regime, had a shower, and was feeling on top of the world. But
despite the fact that he felt good, his mind wandered towards what Mamoru had
told him.	He was thinking about Vegeta, he knew the guy was acting as decent as
could be expected, but the turn around in attitude towards Usagi surprised him.
Well not THAT much, Vegeta was known to hate people being stronger then him, but
she wasn't stronger physically. Also she'd probably never subject herself to
gravity again. That combined with the fact that Mamoru told him she doesn't
like to fight at all would make her pose no threat to Vegeta. But for some
reason he treated her like one.
He sighed and closed his eyes, he had another long day ahead of him
tomorrow. Mamono hadn't attacked in a while and the senshi suspected that they
would get another attack soon. He yawned, these attacks were nothing like what
he got back home, the actual shadows seemed easy enough to beat, but he couldn't
sense them and half the time he couldn't see them, which left him open to
attack. It was more than a little discouraging, but since no one had been
seriously injured in a while they could relax a little and try and find a
weakness other than brute force.

Ami sat in her room after school with her gaze locked on her mini
computer, her fingers typing away rapidly. At each battle she analyzed the
Shadow Creatures as much as possible, but she still couldn't find a way to
detect them. So far she had determined that while all shadow creatures looked
basically the same when fighting they had no permanent form. With this
interesting quality they could easily blend in with any and all darkness.
Now when she said she couldn't detect them it was only partially true.
When she was in visual range with one, in its full form, her computer could pick
up this information. But if they were attacking right now, downtown, she
couldn't detect them, therefore they had no warning.
She rubbed her temples, she had worked on this problem at every available
moment but still couldn't find an answer.
She hit another button on her computer and the profile of a Shadow was
replaced by that or Kuroi Mamono. With Mamono the task had been mostly the
same, but somewhat different. She had decided that if Mamono herself showed up,
she would probably be able to detect her. But she wasn't certain. While her
computer to detect what Mamono was composed of, exactly, and track her, it
couldn't catch a hold of her energy signature or anything that it would normally
track her on. But at least it was something.

Vegeta grunted as he completed another one handed push up under 120 times
gravity. He had already surpassed Goku and Usagi in the level they had
withstood but he kept pushing. He had to reach Super Saiya-jin. It was his
goal, his driving force, and his reason. As he continued his pushups his mind
started to wander. The need to beat Goku was a constant there but every so
often a vision of his other obstacles and nuisances were there.
Every now and then he would get a vision of Usagi cross his mind's eye
along with the feeling of her power, he knew he had either reached or surpassed
it by now, but it still grated at his mind that she had more as of yet unlocked.
But Usagi was not the main thing bugging him. He had other problems.
That woman for one.
**********
Mamoru walked happily down the street, grocery bad in hand, whistling to
himself. He was on an emotional high because he had just finished talking to
his Usako again and it was something which gave him such joy that he couldn't
express. He had been devastated when he though Usagi was dead and while the
news that she was alive had thrilled him he missed her so badly. When she had
appeared before him, seeing her like that and not being able to touch her had
nearly killed him but he had been glad just to be able to lay eyes on her
gorgeous figure once again.
But now that he could talk to her telepathically, here the sound of her
voice in his mind and even her laughter. It brought him so much joy that he
knew that he had not been this happy in a long time. The only thing that could
make him happier right now would be if she could return. And as he thought of
that he knew that the time was passing and it wouldn't be long now. Until he
could hold her in his arms once again.
The only downside to the telepathy was that he was often swarmed by the
girls who wanted to know everything that went on and wanted to use him as a
mediator to converse with Usagi. It was a little trying sometimes but he knew
they missed her as well and so he complied.
**********
Gohan sat in his bedroom staring at the books that his mom had given him
to study. As much as he wanted to please his mom he knew that an enemy was
headed to Earth and that whoever it was had to be powerful to be detected from
such a distance. But lately the distance had shortened considerably and he knew
the time of battle was drawing near.
He got out to train with Piccolo as often as he could but Chichi refused
to let him get away with slacking off in his studies. Even if the whole world
was in danger.
He sighed, he also missed his Dad. While it was nice having Usagi around
as she was always cheerful and good natured she reminded him too much of Goku.
And while he considered that it shouldn't bug him too much, it served to remind
him how much he missed his father.
He put down his pencil and jumped out of the window. Chichi was at
Capsule Corp. anyway and he couldn't concentrate. It was time to train some
more.

Silia skipped down the street after school humming to herself. She was
trying to keep her mind off of the attacks and fortunately had a lot of help in
that department. Today she had finally broken through to Kiji. Or at least
that was how it seemed. After long hours trying to get the girl to at least
smile for her and get her nose out of one of her books for a while, she had
finally succeeded.
This weekend she and the girls were going to go down to the beach for the
day. She had decided to invite Kiji to go along with them and after much
coercing Kiji had decided that it might not be that bad and had accepted. Silia
guessed the brunette planned to read on the beach all day. But she wasn't going
to let her. Somehow she was going to get that girl to have fun.**********
Dende smiled as he hid behind a bush, peeking his head out at Usagi who
was stalking around with a playful grin on her face. Usagi had become really
close to Gohan and Dende since she arrived and had just taught them how to play
hide-and-go-seek and tag. They were currently playing hide-and-go-seek-tag (a
variation of the two), and Gohan had promised not to use is powers to increase
his speed.
Usagi left Dende's view, presumably after Gohan, and Dende moved towards
the chair they were using as home base. He took off at a jog, moving over the
soft green grass with a happy grin on his face. The sun shone down but not so
much as to leave those playing the game panting in exhaustion due to the heat.
He heard Usagi squeal what sounded like "no fair!" and turned his head to
see her coming after him. She wasn't running at full speed because she had
longer legs. He laughed and reached for the chair, declaring himself safe,
Usagi just pouted and stalked off after Gohan.
The tiny Namekian lay down in the comfortable chair and enjoyed the sun as
well as the sounds of Usagi chasing after Gohan. He hadn't had this much fun in
a long time, he was going to miss the others, but he had to leave and so did
Usagi... eventually...

Mamono stood in the usually absolute blackness of her lair, smiling with
an evil happiness at the view screen in front of her. The figure on the other
side, the Lady, had a wicked grin on her face.
"In mere days the foot soldiers I sent ahead will arrive. I am not far
behind them."	Mamono nodded, "And what are the chances of their survival?"
The Lady shook her head slightly, "I'm not certain. I am prepared to
accept the loss but the weaker of our enemies will probably fall." She detected
the frown starting to form on Mamono's lips and cut in before she could respond.
"However I have not underestimated them! I am fully prepared to arrive and
find them dead, which is why I will leave nothing that the enemy can find to
prepare them for my arrival. I assure you that I will not fail."
Mamono nodded, "And you will arrive before the Dragon Balls becomeactive?"
"Why of course Mamono. We can't have my quarry getting away can we?"
Mamono nodded with a little less interest this time. "Well just remember
that if you are late you'll be dealing with Son Goku and we both know that
you'll be no match for him."
The Lady looked as if she was about to protest but the look in Mamono's
eyes silenced her. If any of the Lady's people had been watching they would not
have believed it, but The Lady held her tongue. "Hai Kuroi-sama." She responded
curtly and closed the connection.
As the screen went blank and Mamono was plunged into darkness once more
the only sign of life was her evil laughter, ringing throughout her domain. A
laughter so chilling that it would see even the bravest warrior trembling in
fear.

At the gate of time Sailor Pluto gazed at the possible futures to come and
her eyes saddened even more. There was only one way this wrong could be
righted... and someone would have to die.****************
*laughs maniacally* MUHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I think I've conquered my writer's block! I know this chapter is like half the
length I wanted it to be BUT I have inspiration of the next ones so I said
forget it, finished off the ideas I had for this one and I'm getting to work.
Now I must warn you all though. I'm a grade 11 student taking 11-Biology 11-
Enriched English 12-Math and 12-Physics (that means homework until bedtime and
beyond half the time). I typically have A LOT of homework to do, but when I
don't I promise to write! I know where I'm going and how to get there! We've
got somewhere between 5 and 10 chapters left I think... leaning towards 5 plus
theEpilogue. And don't forget the sequel............ he, he...
I'll get to work on the next part now.
And remember, email is my lifeblood, the more I get the less surfing I do and
the more writing so that I can get more email!
Next Time: Months have passed and it's less then 2 weeks before the Dragon
Balls are revived! Tension between Usagi, Vegeta and Bulma grows when the first
signs of the impending battle appear. As an added bonus: the girls drag Kiji,
Mamoru and Goku to the beach! But remember, when Goku tries to cannonball
things can get out of control. Enjoy!Ti'ana-baka-chan!Email: tiana@nrtco.net
