Tears of Light - Chapter 8: To Face the Past, Future and Present
AN: You came back!!!! I was wondering how many people I
had scared off so far! Well I know that at least 2 of you
have been trying to kill me... so I wrote it! There! Done!
Happy?! Actually they're probably not. Considering I don't
give you any hint what-so-ever as to what's going to happen
to Mamoru and Ami. *ducks some flying black roses* I saw
those STEF!!!!
Stef: You were supposed to! That's why I threw them at you!
*throws more roses and pulls out Terra Staff from my story
Final Awakenings* (lil self promotion never hurt!)
So umm... read the story and enjoy the suspense! It's fun!
Don't know Roshi's Japanese name. Well I sort of do but not
really... so I'm using Muten Roshi. That might be it but
I'm not sure.
If you have any complaints concerning the gravity machine,
e-mail me, I'll explain.
Disclaimer: I don't own Sailor Moon. If I did I would fix
the dub voices!
Disclaimer2: I don't own DBZ. I like playing with the
character's minds but I don't own them.

Usagi sighed as she slept peacefully in her bed. It
was soft and warm and things couldn't be much better.
SPLASH
An ear-piercing scream tore through the air as Usagi
was suddenly drenched in a bucket of ice water. She jumped
out of her bed and started fuming when she caught site of
her torturer and abruptly stopped. Holding the bucket,
standing impassively at the end of her bed was Vegeta.
She threw a pillow at him which he calmly, though with
some irritation, batted away. "What did you do that for?"
she demanded angrily, pulling a dry blanket around her
shoulders.
"You said you wanted to get those powers under
control." He responded calmly, "That means you have to train
with me and that means getting up early. You're lucky I
didn't hit you with a ki blast. I was about to. Now hurry
up and get changed, I'll be waiting outside."
And with that the Saiya-jin left. Usagi was fuming,
"Why that self-righteous jerk! He could have woken me up
more gently!" she gulped, "then again he did threaten to hit
me with a ki blast. Guess I got the easy wake-up call after
all..."
She shook her head as she headed to the shower, "I
need to get an alarm clock in here so that doesn't happen
again." She giggled, "not that alarm clocks have ever been
able to wake me up!"
**
Usagi got dressed quickly and found a pile of
breakfast foods waiting for her, courtesy of Bulma.
"Arigato Bulma-chan!" said Usagi happily.
Bulma smiled, "It was no problem Usagi-chan. I just
can't believe Vegeta did that to you."
Usagi giggled, "Neither can I. But he had probably
been trying to get me up for a while. I'm a heavy sleeper!"
Bulma shrugged, "whatever you say Usagi. I still
don't know why you agreed to train with him but I suppose
that's your choice. Oh Chichi and Gohan will be here at
around noon. Chichi actually agreed to let him train a
little but he has to get all his work done before he goes.
She'll probably freak out anyway but that's our Chichi."
Usagi giggled, "Well I better hurry up!"
Bulma nodded, "Oh Usagi-chan just a sec!"
"Nani?"
"Muten Roshi, a friend of ours, is coming over later.
You'll have to say hello!"
"I will Bulma! Arigato again for breakfast! Bai
Bai!" Yelled Usagi as she ran out the door.
************
Usagi bolted outside as quickly as possible, yelling
hello to Dende and the other Namek-jin as she passed. She
reached the empty section of Capsule Corp. where Vegeta told
her they would train for today since she, at least,
shouldn't be doing anything too destructive. Vegeta on the
other hand, while he didn't really care, had told Bulma that
he would refrain from blowing up more then just trees. And
it was a rather reluctant promise at that.
Vegeta was standing impatiently at one end of the
empty field when Usagi came running up to him.
"About time." He huffed with annoyance.
Usagi placed her hands on her hips, "Well sorry! But
I'm not used to getting up at 6 am!"
Vegeta raised an eyebrow, "I was up at 4. Get used to
it."
Usagi grinned sheepishly, "I could never get up that
early... heh.." she caught Vegeta's look and sighed, "There
is NO WAY I'm going to get up that early!!"
Vegeta shook his head, "Fine then, I'll get my own
private training done then. But don't blame me if you can't
learn to control that power of yours!"
Usagi sighed, "listen just teach me how to control my
power, onegai?"
Vegeta's expression remained blank. "Fine, transform
then. You try and use those pathetic powers of yours and
we'll see how well you do."
The training continued for quite some time. Vegeta
kept pressing Usagi to stop being such a wimp but Usagi had
never wanted to fight. Even against Galaxia she had not
fought in the end. Fortunately a break in the action arose
as Bulma came strutting up to the two with a proud but
exhausted expression. She was covered in grease, her hair
was a mess, but she still managed to look gorgeous. Whether
Vegeta noticed this or not he didn't show it.
"Hi Usagi-chan, Vegeta! Come take a break, I have
something to show you."
Usagi's face was instantly filled with relief as she
detransformed and ran over to Bulma, "Does it involve
food?!"
Bulma laughed, "Oh you and the Saiya-jin all have one
track minds. Well my little surprise doesn't involve food
but I'll cook some lunch afterwards."
Vegeta floated back down to the ground, "This better
be good woman." He said abruptly but followed as she led the
two towards one of the new buildings in the Capsule
Corporation.
"Don't worry Vegeta, I must be insane for showing you
this but I'm sure you'll enjoy it." She turned and
practically stuck her nose in Vegeta's face, "I'm only
showing you this because you've promised to be good until
Goku comes, and when that happens you wont have a chance
anyway!"
Vegeta's permanent scowl deepened, "Watch it woman,
you're treading on dangerous ground."
Bulma shrugged and turned her back on the Prince, "I
don't care."
Vegeta's scowl deepened even more if it was at all
possible but he backed off, "Stupid stubborn woman..." he
growled to himself.
Usagi started giggling and his glare snapped over to
her as they walked, "What are YOU laughing about girl?"
Usagi tried stifling her laughter, "n- nothing." She
managed out, "never mind." Her laughter didn't stop though
until Vegeta threatened to make her spar with him because he
was bored. She stopped immediately and moved up to walk
beside Bulma instead.
They reached the building without having Vegeta kill
either of them and Bulma stopped at the door. "This," she
said proudly, "Is my latest invention! I couldn't have done
it without the help of my father who made the original but
I've added several unique features. The idea for this hit
me when I realized that we could really use Goku's help if
there was a battle about to be fought." Vegeta mumbled
something that Usagi couldn't hear and Bulma chose to
ignore. Bulma was about to continue when a hover car pulled
up.
Usagi ran over to it with happiness, Bulma was a
little disappointed at being cut off but when Gohan jumped
out she realized she would have more people to talk to and
went over as well. Vegeta just glanced over his shoulder
and upon seeing 'Kakarotto's brat' leant up against the
wall, crossing his arms across his chest, wanting no part in
their pointless babble, and seriously considering leaving.
"Hi Gohan! You finished your work?" asked Usagi
happily.
Gohan nodded but Chichi finished for him, "Yes and I
decided to join him today. Bulma I need to borrow some
stuff, I see your busy now though. Talk later?"
Bulma nodded, "Sure Chichi, hey Gohan, I bet you'll
like what we're talking about right now."
Gohan's eyes flickered over to Vegeta, "Something to
do with training?"
Bulma grinned, "Yep! But Vegeta doesn't know that yet
I haven't gotten to the full explanation. Want to see?"
"Sure." He agreed, "So Usagi, holding up against
Vegeta ok?"
Usagi sighed, "Ya I guess," they walked back up to the
building, Chichi leaving to start lunch per Bulma's request.
Usagi was walking backwards to talk to Gohan. "He's got to
much fight in him for me though. I've never liked fighting
all that much."
"Then why do you do it?" asked Gohan with curiosity.
Usagi smiled sadly, "to protect my friends. But let's
listen to what Bulma has to say ok?"
They joined up with a more than slightly irritated
Vegeta and Bulma filled Gohan in a little, went off on a
tangent and then after Vegeta almost left, got to the point.
"As I was saying, Goku trained under over 100 times
gravity on his ship, and yes Vegeta that's one of the
reasons he's so strong now." She added, per his earlier
comment that he hadn't thought she had heard. "So Otusan
and I have modified these two buildings, the second isn't
finished just yet, to be larger version gravity machines for
training. The building is quite strong and is protected
against random ki blasts but should NOT be used for
practicing anything other than physical attacks or doing
sit-ups whatever. There are two sets of controls. One on
the inside to raise or lower the gravity, the machine hasn't
been tested to its limits yet though so I'm not sure how
high it will go. But definitely above 100 x normal gravity.
Anything above that may cause it to short out, I'll be able
to fix it though. The second set of controls is located on
the outside. This is in case of emergencies, the panel here
reads what the gravity inside is at and any regular person
can only lower the gravity. This eliminates the danger of
someone turning the gravity up too high for the person
inside. However, for certain purposes the gravity can be
raised from the outside, this can only be done by me
though."
She smiled, "Any questions?"
*
After a bit of discussing with Vegeta actually being
semi-friendly because he was glad to have something new to
train with, the group snacked on rice that Chichi had made
for them. Vegeta's reasons for staying with them as yet not
stated, but he ate like a normal Saiya-jin and that was
reason enough for everyone else.
As she finished off her second bowl of rice an idea
hit Usagi. "You know I've been under the influence of a
gravity machine before..."
Vegeta's eyebrows raised slightly and Bulma's
expression was so mixed it was unreadable, "Where?" she
asked with curiosity.
Usagi laughed nervously, "well it wasn't exactly the
most pleasant of experiences but I was fighting the Black
Moon family at the time and the girls had been kidnapped.
So Rubeus, our enemy at that point in time, challenged me to
a battle, wanting to kidnapped Chibi-Usa and get to the
ginzuishou. He was a very sneaky and underhanded person
though and as we were about to fight on his ship he turned
on his gravity machine. At first I was smashed against the
ground and the next moment I was slamming against the
ceiling and the floating. He thought the battle was one as
he sent me crashing back down to the ground." She shivered a
little, "He turned the beam up to what he called 'maximum
capacity' and I was pressed so tightly against the ground
that I could barely breath. Even the floor beneath me was
cracking with the stress. But I couldn't let my friends
down so I managed to stand. He got really worried over
that, as if it was supposed to be impossible, turned off the
machine, and attacked me head on."
Vegeta finished off another bowl of rice, "Since
you're going to be training with me in there we should see
how high that beam was set at."
Usagi's face turned deathly white, "Me?!" her voice
was tight and squeaky, "there is NO WAY I'm getting stuck in
a gravity machine again!"
Chichi looked appalled, "Vegeta it was obviously a
traumatic experience, you can't force her to go in there
with you!" Her expression was more one of a plea than a
command. Bulma, on the other hand, had had about enough.
"If she doesn't want to she doesn't have to Vegeta."
Her voice was firm, going up against this intimidating man
would be impossible for most people but Bulma wasn't most
people.
"You even try it and I'll personally destroy the thing
so that you can never train in there and you'll just have to
fend for yourself 'cause I'm not going to cook for you
anymore and neither is Chichi!"
Vegeta's eyes narrowed but the gravity machine was too
good an opportunity to pass up, if the girl didn't want to
train then she was a worthless coward after all. And he
said so quite bluntly before leaving.
*******
Later that day
Bulma and Chichi had gone off to do a shopping spree
and Usagi sat in a comfortable lawn chair talking to Dende.
The two could here the distant noises of Piccolo training
Gohan but other than that it was very peaceful. Usagi
sipped her cold drink and threw then threw her arms behind
her head.
"So you don't eat food Dende?" she asked with
confusion. It was the latest topic at hand and it seemed
that she couldn't get over the fact that he didn't eat.
Dende shook his head quietly, "None of the Namek-jin
do."
Usagi shook her head and leaned farther back, "I LOVE
to eat. I don't think I could stand being a Namek-jin. But
then again you grew up with it right?" she leaned back even
farther, big mistake, the chair flipped backwards and
capsized on top of her. Dende ran over to her and pulled
off the chair, "Daijobu?"
Usagi nodded and hastily stood up, "Of course! He
he... happens all the time. I'm such a klutz." She looked
down at her new pastel green skirt. "Oh no I spilt my drink
all over it. Listen Dende I'm going to go change but
chances are I'll get side tracked so don't worry about
waiting for me. I'll see you when Roshi-san comes over
right? Ja ne!"
Dende wave good bye to the hastily retreating figure,
she was a nice girl, strange but nice.
******
Usagi raced up to her room and changed into a pair of
white pants. She didn't know why but she felt like wearing
pants, there was a deep frustration building within her and
she needed to run it off.
She started off at a slow walk. A million thoughts
flowing through her head. She knew that Vegeta wanted her
to train in the new gravity machine and she knew that it
would be a great way to improve her skills, but she was
terrified. Terrified of the memories that she didn't want
to remember, terrified of having to fight again, but also
terrified of hurting her friends. If Vegeta thought that
training like that would help her... But she couldn't.
Could she. She broke out into a run, she wasn't sure where
she was running, but she needed to burn gas. She needed to
get away from all the pressure. She needed to run.
******
It hadn't taken Vegeta long to figure out how the
Gravity room worked. And once he did he decided to start
training at once. It didn't help his peace of mind that he
had to deal with a slacker for a trainee and a stubborn
woman who assumed that she was in charge. "Stupid Woman."
He muttered to himself, "just cause she cooks my meals she
thinks she controls me. Well no one controls a Saiya-jin
prince. Especially not this one."
He had the gravity turned up to 20 times normal
gravity in order to get used to it again. Vegeta-sei had
been destroyed a long time ago and at the moment he was
content doing normal sit-ups etc. under the extra gravity.
He was feeling confident that he would be used to it again
in no time. But it had been ages and he could feel the
extra gravity beating down on him harshly. He continued to
do as many sit-ups, push-ups and other exercises that he
thought of when his sensitive Saiya-jin ears perked up.
There was someone running in his direction. He stopped his
training for a moment and focused in on the person's voice,
she was female and was talking to herself with an obvious
grip of fear in her voice.
Vegeta walked, albeit slowly, over to the controls and
turned off the gravity, the pressure gone he could make out
what the female was saying.
"... right. I know I should confront my fears but I'm
so alone here..."
Vegeta drew back, he recognized the voice all right.
It was clearly the girl, Usagi. He made sure the gravity
was turned all the way down and floated up to the ceiling.
If his hunch was right she might actually be getting a
backbone. And that meant that she was going to try out the
gravity machine, he didn't want to be in the way to stop
her. Besides whatever she could stand he would be able to
fly easily in right?
*****
Usagi, now Sailor Moon, stood outside the gravity room
door and stared worriedly at the entrance to the gravity
room. She didn't want to go in, not at all, but she knew
she had to.
She stopped. Did she really need to? She didn't need
to train any more than usual did she? She had always relied
on her powers and sudden acts of tiny bravery to save
herself and others, but now her powers were dying and she
knew that training with Vegeta was the key to getting them
back.
She took in a deep breath and stepped into the room.
It was reasonably well lit though a tad dim, and it would be
easy for someone to hide in a corner if an untrained eye was
the only one looking.
She paced around the room for a while, trying to get
the nagging feeling that she was being watch out of her mind
and also trying to gather up the nerve to attain her goal.
She stopped multiple times and stared at the controls,
memories flashed lightly before her eyes every time, and she
drew back. It was after her 10th pass that she finally
stopped, drew in a deep breath and reached for the control.
Her hand lightly grazed the control and she instantly felt a
pang of pain as light crossed her vision.
~*~FLASHBACK~*~
Chibi-Usa had her locket and was being attacked by
Rubeus, the senshi tried so hard to protect her but the red-
haired fiend reversed his gravity machine and sent them
flying into his ship. Mars, Mercury, Jupiter, Venus. All
sucked away with her standing there unable to do anything as
they were held against their will as hostages.
Tears streamed from her eyes as Rubeus delivered his
ultimatum, Tuxedo Mask trying to comfort Chibi-Usa. Usagi
was just trying to be brave. Time flashed by quickly and
suddenly she was Sailor Moon again, beneath Rubeus' ship.
With Chibi-Usa suddenly behind her.
~*~END FLASHBACK~*~
A bead of sweat ran down the Usagi's forehead as she
let her hand fall on the start up button. It depressed
lightly and she could hear the gentle hum of the machinery.
Her senses were so high strung that if Vegeta had been
powering up behind her she wouldn't have felt it. The
Saiya-jin Prince seemed to know this, and found it
fortunate, because he wanted to be on the ground when the
gravity came on and now he could stay easily hidden in the
corner.
Moon's slender fingers turned the gravity up to 2x
normal and the all too familiar feeling of being heavy
returned to her, not nearly as strong but it was still
there.
~*~FLASHBACK~*~
Sailor Moon yelled at Chibi-Usa to go back but it was
too late. Suddenly her stomach churned as she and the pink
brat flew up into the ship and darkness overtook.
Cold. The floor was so cold and hard. Her eyes
fluttered open and a booted foot lay before her. He had her
friends, Chibi-Usa, the Ginzuishou, everything he wanted
both alive and dead was in his grasp. The only hopeful
thought she could find was that despite the fact that he had
dumped her, she still loved Mamoru, and he and Luna and
Artemis would be safe for now.
~*~END FLASHBACK~*~
Sailor Moon managed to stand tall easily in the extra
gravity. But her knees were shaking with fear from the
flashbacks. She placed a gloved hand on her forehead, a
tear rolling down her cheek and crashing onto the floor.
She shook it off and took a deep, calm, relaxing
breath; when it hit her. She couldn't test the gravity if
she wasn't able to stand and turn it off again. She was
going to need Bulma's help with this one. Usagi let out a
resigned sigh. Would she have the courage to face the
gravity again? As intense as she knew it would have to go?
She didn't know.
She hit the OFF button on the tiny panel and put her
hand to her broach. Usagi had no idea what was going on
back where she belonged. But she knew that there would
eventually be another danger there. She needed to be strong
again.
Usagi detransformed and walked towards the door.
"Chickening out so soon?" the deep voice startled the
young blond so much that she jumped and landed rather
ungracefully.
"Vegeta!" She exclaimed in recognition, "Don't scare
me like that! Have you been in here all this time?"
Vegeta nodded, "I heard your pathetic mumbling and
decided to get out of the way. I was curious."
Vegeta looked down on the tiny girl in front of him.
She might not be shorter but she was so thin and fragile,
unlike a real warrior, even that woman was more of a fighter
then the girl. Right now, however, her face was filled with
pain and was incredibly pale.
Usagi scoffed, "I just knew someone was watching me!"
She blinked, loosing her anger, "You've been training in
here already right?"
Vegeta nodded, "I was up to 20x when I heard you girl.
What's your point?"
Usagi bit her lip and shook her head. "Never mind.
Listen I need to go talk to Bulma. Someone named Muten
Roshi is coming over in a short while and she wants me to
meet him."
Vegeta nodded, "Go then girl. You've been wasting my
training time anyway."
Usagi shook her head but left quite merrily, relieved
to be away from her memories, and to have a distraction.
She passed the kitchen where Chichi was cooking a meal
for themselves, their guest and Vegeta if he wanted it,
accounting that that would mean a full Saiya-jin and a 1/2
Saiya-jin. Usagi told them she would be back in a moment
and ran up to her room.
When she got upstairs she inhaled a glass of water and
sat down before her mirror. Carefully she undid her
odangoes and started to brush her hair, thinking. Why were
all these memories coming back, it was a horrible experience
but like with all of her scarier battles against youma or
lower generals any nightmares subsided quickly. She knew
the gravity was triggering it, and that she didn't need to
be as shaken up as she was. But she couldn't help it. She
redid her odangoes and changed into some black leggings and
a pale green top.
Trying to push her fears away she went gracefully into
the kitchen. Bulma's eyes smiled as she saw her and led her
outside to the large table where they would be eating. It
appeared the guest had already arrived.
As it turned out Vegeta had decided to make an
appearance if only because he was hungry and was currently
leaning up against a nearby tree. However the actual
newcomer was an older man. He wore a pair of dark,
reflective, sunglasses and carried himself as if he were a
fighter but still couldn't hide the fact that he was older.
Bulma brought Usagi over to him. "Usagi-sama this is
Muten Roshi, Roshi-san, Tsukino Usagi."
Roshi bowed a little, "Pleased to meat you Tsukino-
san." He said quite congenially though a little awkwardly,
he knew Bulma was watching his every move. Of course his
gaze was elsewhere then Usagi's face.
Bulma clenched her fists and Usagi's face turned beet
red, "You promised you'd behave! Now stop it you perverted
old man or you're not getting any of Chichi's cooking!"
After a little explaining to Usagi that he was a
friend, albeit a weird one, and a lot of yelling at Roshi,
Chichi came out with the food and even Vegeta sat down to
eat, though conversation with him was impossible.
Nevertheless, Bulma tried.
"So Vegeta, how do you like the gravity machine?" she
asked inquisitively.
Vegeta just stuffed some more ramen into his mouth, "I
haven't had that much time to try it out yet woman."
Bulma slammed her hands down on the table, "Why do you
always call me that?!" She demanded angrily.
Vegeta smirked, "Because that's what you are, a
stupid, ugly, human woman!"
The teal haired woman fumed but sat down, trying to
control her temperature, "You wouldn't know a real woman
with good looks and intelligence if you saw one!"
"Well I know your not one." He bit back sharply.
"YOU ARE SUCH A JERK!!!!!"
Roshi, who had at this point still not adjusted to the
fact that Vegeta was eating *civilly* with them turned to
Vegeta in anger. "Now you leave Bulma alone! She didn't
have to let you stay here you know." He chuckled a little,
"And she is very pretty."
Chichi, who had remained silent during all of rolled
her eyes but kept her calm since Roshi was defending Bulma.
"Ecchi..."
Usagi sat back and continued to nibble on her food as
the conversation around the table continued. Involving
everyone at this point, even Gohan. She wanted to join in
but something deep down in the pit of her stomach was
churning. She was having this sinking feeling that
something wasn't right. Somewhere...
"At least I don't break down because of some stupid
memories form the past!" retorted Vegeta to something
someone had said, but that was all that Usagi heard.
Bulma's voice fell, "That's because you've blocked all
feeling out of your heart. You don't know what she might
have gone through!"
Gohan turned to Usagi, who he was sitting beside,
"Usagi-san, are you all right?"
Usagi shook her head, she had been drifting off. "I'm
fine Gohan... Just..."
"Doushta, Usagi-san?"
Suddenly a sharp pain pierced Usagi's mind, she
clutched her head in pain and stumbled backwards, away from
the table.
"Usagi-chan!" came Bulma and Chichi's worried cries
together as Usagi backed into a tree and started crumpling
in pain.
"It's... It's..." her voice was strained and full of
pain. "They... They're fighting... no..."
Bulma put a hand on Usagi's shoulder. "Usagi please,
try to get control of yourself. Is their anything we can
do?"
Usagi started to shake... "Mamo... Mamo-chan...
IIIIIIIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

Hehe... ok, here it is.
SNEAK PEAK FROM "Fairy Flight" Chapter 1 - Journeys and
Messages
The young blue haired girl wandered down to a small
pond and sat down beside it. She knew she should probably
be begging the others to tell her what would happen, or try
to find her future self who Serenity has said was
unavailable at the moment, but she had wanted to come here.
So she came to this tiny spot to watch the pond's water
glistening in the sun.
She lay on the grass for about five minutes when four
tiny dragonflies came whooshing by her head. She started
abruptly but the calmed and stared fixedly at them. The
four of them were circling her head lazily but with a
strange type of intent.
They were peculiar colours for dragonflies, she
though, blue, green, gray and red. But who knew what
strange new types of species they had at this point in time?
They danced around her head for a few more moments
before taking off. Silia sighed sadly as the flitted off
and considered leaving. Whatever had led her here to this
spot was not sowing, and she was feeling as if she was
wasting her time.
With a small grunt she pulled herself to her feet, but
stopped abruptly as the pond started churning.
She took a startled step back, tripped over a rock,
and landed on her backside. With quick reflexes she
catapulted herself to her feet again and stared fixedly at
the pond.
With seemingly precise movement the water shot into
the air and held. The young girl frowned and suddenly her
jaw dropped. The water was forming words!
Carefully she mouthed them out, "Sorry it took me so
long, I was with the Neo-Queen." Silia's eyes widened.
"Who's there?!" she demanded.
The water churned some more and new words formed, "I'm
you future self silly!"
