The Dare

Happy Birthday Kaitlan!!!!!!!!15!!!!!!!!!!! My best
tomodachi ever! (That's best friend for everyone without
the benefit of a Jap/Eng dictionary. *giggles insanely*)

Rated PG-(13 maybe): Vegeta gets a bit of a starring role,
need I say more?

NOTE: Don't worry you guys. I'm a huge Mamo-chan/Usagi and
Vegeta/Bulma fan so no matter what crazy ideas you guys have
been getting nothing *I* will do will hook them up with
someone else. So stop worrying!

Vegeta's character is a little Usagi off skew because this
is mainly from Usagi's view. K?

Gomen ne to all those who e-mailed me about chapter 2. It's
up now, ASMR just had some posting problems. And I haven't
been able to e-mail due to certain, ah... difficulties. Many
involving parents. You will get responses eventually
though!!!!!!!!

Usagi and Gohan sat in the yard outside of Capsule
Corp. leisurely chatting away. Most of the talk was of no
importance, though every now and then one would mention Goku
or Mamoru and the talking got a little more serious. It had
been one of these moments that had led to Usagi explain
about her life as a super heroine.
Presently Usagi was mentioning that without Luna, her
talking cat, berating her about training she might get a
little sloppy for when she got back.
"Not that, *hopefully* I'll have to fight when I get
back; but still it's best to be prepared right?" she asked,
resting her hands above her head on the wonderfully
comfortable lawn chair she was seated in.
Gohan laughed a little, "At least you don't have
Piccolo training you!"
Usagi grinned, "Ya, the horror stories you've told
me..."
Gohan propped himself up on one arm, "He's not all
that bad you know. I've kinda become a friend with him I
guess. In fact if he wasn't busy training me right now, and
well, then fact that you're now terrified of his training,
I'd advise you to ask for training. Those rogue powers of
yours could get very dangerous."
Usagi took a sip of her lemonade. "You're right
Gohan, I could use some help controlling these powers. But
seeing as there's no one here that could readily help me I
can't."
Gohan sat up and propped his head on his shoulders.
"There's got to be someone! Let's see, King Kai's too far
away, and it could be dangerous getting there. Plus you
have to die first." Usagi shook her head vigorously. Gohan
smirked and continued on, "Kami is Piccolo's other self so
you wouldn't feel comfortable with him but it is a
possibility. None of the others are really experienced
enough in training to handle your powers except... Naw."
Usagi put down her lemonade and leaned in towards
Gohan. "Who?!"
A tiny grin crept across Gohan's lips. "Vegeta."
Usagi let out a yelp and jumped backwards, hiding
behind her chair. Her eyes darted back and forth as if she
were looking for someone before she climbed back on her
chair and whispered to Gohan, "He's mean! Besides he thinks
I'm a childish brat. Nice try though."
Gohan rolled his eyes, "Come on! I dare you just to
ask him!" Gohan gave Usagi an 'oh so now you're chicken
look', "It's just a simple dare."
Usagi gulped and turned her head in the direction of
the room Vegeta, Piccolo and Bulma were gathered in. "I...
er... well he won't say yes anyway. I'm sure of it. Ok!
But if I actually go through with it you have to do
something for me!"
	"What?" asked Gohan intrigued.
Usagi considered for a moment, "Nimbus." She stated
plainly. "You've told me a bit about it and I want to ride
it."
Gohan looked pensive for a moment, it wasn't like she
actually would. She was terrified to death at the mention
of his name. And there was the tiniest, remotest chance
that he might say yes. Just the thought of that impossible
possibility should stop her.
"Ok, and if you can't... well I'll think of something
perfectly evil then." announced Gohan.
Usagi looked him straight in the eye. "He'll never
say yes." She said calmly, "You're on!"

Vegeta yawned with boredom, the woman had insisted
that he come to this meeting; arguing that it was of major
importance. He had almost outright refused except of my
slight curiosity. She looked positively terrified. Whether
it was because of him or the subject of the meeting he
didn't know but it was enough to spark a little curiosity.
And also she had seemed to have gotten over her fear of him;
so it had to be whatever this meeting was about.
Piccolo eyes Vegeta suspiciously, the Namek trusted
Vegeta only so far. And vice versa.
Bulma sighed, "Would you two stop staring at each
other like you want to kill one-another!" she exploded, "We
have important things to talk about!" Vegeta crossed
wondering why he didn't blow the lost of them to the next
dimension. Piccolo gave Bulma a slight nod and so she
continued.
"Ok then," she started, "Gohan would be with us but I
don't want to be the one to tell him this so here's what I
know. Thanks to my genius and Raditz's scouter I've rigged
a sort of enemy detection system. It's designed to set of
an alarm if anyone with a power level of over 1000 enters
within its range. Well this morning the sirens were blaring
loudly. I checked it out and there is someone with an un-
powered-up power of 10 000 heading this way." Bulma stopped
for a second she was staring at Vegeta with anger, "Listen
you egotistical Saijan, I know it isn't much compared to
what happened with Frieza but when Goku first arrived on
Namek I've been told his power was at 5000. Unpowered. And
so this person just *might* cause a threat!"
Vegeta stopped considered this carefully and nodded
very slowly, "You've got nerve woman. But I suppose you
could be right."
Piccolo rubbed his chin thoughtfully. "How long until
this person arrives?"
Bulma shook her head, "I don't know, the technology
hasn't been perfected yet, I cant get a distance or a speed.
So therefore it's impossible to even guess.
Vegeta frowned, "So woman, what you're saying is that
this person could show up tomorrow or a year from now. A
lot of help that gives us!"
Bulma growled, "My name is Bulma, not woman! And it's
better than nothing."
Vegeta grinned, "Whatever you say woman, I'm leaving
for a while." He stated and left the building.

Usagi and Gohan saw Vegeta step outside, with a gulp
the young girl stood and sending Gohan a V-for-victory she
made her way up to the Saiya-jin and started twiddling her
thumbs nervously, Vegeta ignored her.
"Umm, Vegeta...-san." Usagi said nervously, fidgeting
a little.
Vegeta flickered his eyes in her direction, "What do
you want girl?" He asked in his usual intimidating voice,
she trembled a little.
"Umm, well I was talking to Gohan about my rogue
powers. And I don't want to accidentally hurt my friends so
I was wondering if you would train me since the others are
too busy." She paused and then started up again before
Vegeta could get a word in, "No? Ok, ja ne!" She turned to
leave. So that was her little plan; nice try. Vegeta
reached out and grabbed her arm so fast she probably didn't
even see it coming. She let out a yelp of surprise and
whirled around to face him If she wasn't terrified before
she was now.
"You need training?" The Saiya-jin asked calmly, ha,
that shook her, "Interesting, there just happens to be some
powerful force headed towards Earth at this very moment.
And we can't have those tiny little powers of yours going
nuts at the wrong moment. They could distract me." He said
with something hidden in his voice, "Besides you are royalty
are you not? That makes you better than the rest of these
wimps."
By then Usagi had turned completely white, and Gohan
was edging in closer his eyes wide with surprise and
suspicion. He knew Vegeta was up to something but not what
yet. Unfortunately by the time he knew he would not be able
to stop him, even if he was powerful enough.
Usagi squirmed in Vegeta's grip a little, "Could you
please let go of my arm? You're hurting me!"
Vegeta chuckled and tightened his grip a little.
Gohan looked like he was about to pounce.
"You did say you wanted training, and I'm always
looking for a good sparing partner; coming?" Vegeta
commented with a grin and took off into the air, towing the
now screaming blond with him.
"Oh Shut up already!" He yelled at her, she gulped and
stopped, she was shaking violently though. The Saiyajin no
Ouji* paused for a moment and called down to Gohan who was
about to take off after him. "Hey Kakarotto's brat! Tell
you're Namek friend I'm recruiting!" Vegeta laughed but
paused for a moment as Piccolo stepped into view suddenly.
The Saiyajin eyed him suspiciously before shrugging and
taking off. "JA!" He yelled as Usagi started screaming with
fear again.

*******

	Gohan stood gape-mouthed at the disappearing Vegeta;
he had just kidnapped Usagi! Well sort of; she had asked
for training. But he had to have known she wasn't serious!
Gohan had been about to take off after her when Piccolo put
 a hand on his shoulder.
	"Don't." he said calmly.
"What?!" exclaimed Gohan, "Vegeta just practically
kidnapped her, who knows what he's got planned!"
Piccolo shook his head, "He probably over heard
whatever prodded her to ask him and decided it would be fun
to scare her out of her wits. But I have confidence in the
girl. She may surprise him. Don't worry about her, he
wouldn't hurt her seriously anyway. He may be cruel but he
won't kill her. I can tell."
Gohan shook his head, "It's all my fault though! I
dared her!"
"Either way we can't change what has happened now."
Piccolo said calmly, "Besides there's an evil force heading
to earth and we might need her help. If Vegeta helps her
after all, it's all for the better. And besides we have
some training to do."
Gohan nearly jumped when Piccolo mentioned the new
threat, but he gave a resigned sigh and agreed, "Ok Piccolo-
san. Let's go then. Ummm, maybe I should tell mom where
I'm going first."

****

Usagi screamed loud and long, why wasn't Gohan or
Piccolo coming to help her she wondered. Did they not care,
or did they think this guy was actually serious? She
screamed some more and Vegeta stopped abruptly. "Shut the
hell up right now or I drop you!" he exclaimed. The
princess gulped and looked downward, they were a LONG ways
up. She stopped screaming and he took off again, but Usagi
wasn't through bugging him, she hoped that maybe if she
annoyed him enough he would take her back.
"Could you please loosen you grip on my wrist?" she
yelled at him. He grinned, "Want to plummet to the ground?"
The princess was silent for a moment, he did have a
point. "Well could you switch wrists or something?!" she
asked, her wrist was starting to ache violently.
He shook his head absently, eyeing the ground, Usagi
stopped for a moment her eyes following Vegeta's gaze. Did
this mean they were- Usagi screamed in terror, as Vegeta
pulled her towards the ground. FAST! Expecting to go
crashing into the ground she wailed at the top of her lungs!
"I don't want to DIE!!!!"
The two were just inches from the ground he stopped,
Usagi was jerked backwards and her arm felt like it was
going to remove itself from it's socket. Then he neatly
dropped the blond on the ground. She landed with a thud,
wincing in pain.
"What's the big idea?" She yelled at him, leaping to
her feet, the pain from the landing slowly ebbing.
He grinned his typical evil grin. "You said you
wanted training, so show me what you can do. Or are you too
chicken?"
Ok, I may be a wimp but that was it! "Fine Vegetable
head!"
He narrowed his eyes and looked like he might hit
Usagi but controlled himself and remained mute.
Usagi gulped "Ok, what do you want to start with?" She
asked, determination etched in her voice.
He crossed his arms, "Power up." He said simply.
Usagi nodded, "Moon Prism power, MAKE-UP!!" in a
flash of light that obscured all view (thankfully) she
became Sailor Moon.
Vegeta eyed her carefully assessing her power level.
"I must admit your ki is quite large for a human, but at the
moment it's no where near the one heading to earth. Care to
show me what you've got in the way of attacks before we
start seriously sparring?"
Moon nodded cautiously, "What do you want me to hit?"
	Vegeta grinned, "Me."
"What?!" exclaimed Usagi, "I could kill you!"
Vegeta laughed a little, "Sorry, but I haven't seen
anything of yours that could do that yet."
Sailor Moon shrugged deciding that she wouldn't let it
actually hit him and removed the tiara from her forehead.
"Moon Tiara, ACTION!" She launched the glowing disk at
Vegeta; he grinned and grabbed it in his hand. "Impressive,
but not quite strong enough."
Sailor Moon grinned, "I do believe that's what Jaedite
said once. Tiara, trap him!" she called. The tiara
magically expanded and circled around Vegeta. Conveniently
pinning his arms to his body.
His eyes narrowed, she had impressed him, but she had
also embarrassed him at the same time. "Remove it now or I
shatter it into a million pieces."
Moon gulped and called the tiara back. Vegeta was
eyeing her strangely.
"I've never seen an attack quite like that before." He
said slowly. "I must admit that is a quite lethal weapon
you have there. Almost like baldy's Destructo Disks. Slice
through anything unless that anything has a high power level
like me. But the trapping technique could be handy. It may
not hold the person long if they didn't care about damaging
your tiara but it could by you a few precious attack
seconds."
Moon smiled slightly, "I warned you." She said, happy
that she had proved herself a little. "Next?"
Vegeta crossed his arms, "Any real attacks?"
Sailor Moon frowned, "What do you mean real? That was
a real attack."
Vegeta shrugged a little, "Well I suppose it is but
not very powerful. I could have sent it off track with a
simple ki blast. And as I said, it couldn't have held me if
I didn't have the decency to keep it in one piece."
Moon pouted a little and then frowned, "Well there's
the ginzuishou, but that's a last resort. And then there's
the rogue power. It will be significantly diminished in
this lower transformation but it'll be there."
"How uncontrollable is this attack?" asked Vegeta, he
needed something to go on.
"I'm not sure I could even do it again without a life
and death situation. It's not like any power I've used
before." Admitted Sailor Moon sheepishly.
Vegeta smiled, "Well there's one way to do that."
"Do what?" asked the young senshi, a touch of worry
penetrated her voice. "Ve-ge-ta?"
Vegeta balled his hand into a fist. A simple Ki
blast, not powerful enough to kill, or even seriously injure
for that matter, but she didn't know that. "Catch!" he
hurled it right at her and for a moment she froze. But an
instant later her instincts kicked in and she flung herself
out of the way.
Vegeta nodded, "You're fast, but not fast enough."
He flung some more blasts at her and she dodged them
all. Vegeta turned up the speed and she was having trouble
dodging but it was so natural to her that she didn't get hit
once. Vegeta growled, "Stop dodging and fight back!"
Moon wailed as she dodged another blast, "Are you
trying to get me killed?!" she exclaimed fearfully.
Vegeta shook his head, if she dodged this one he'd be
impressed. He sent his fastest attack yet straight at the
petite senshi who had just fallen to the ground. She
screamed in terror and threw her hands in front of her as if
she could block the blast with them. And she pushed.
Light flowed from her hands like water and suddenly
collided with Vegeta's incoming blast. The resulting
explosion sending Usagi flying backwards and startling
Vegeta.
He laughed a little, "Gee I didn't think you had it in
you."
Moon stood up again on wobbly legs, "Honestly Vegeta
neither did I."
Vegeta rolled his eyes, "You'll never be a real
fighter with that attitude."
Sailor Moon shrugged, "Who ever said I wanted to be?"
Vegeta paused, now there's something he didn't hear
every day. He huffed, "Well that's what you get for being a
human."
Sailor Moon just started long and hard into Vegeta's
impassive eyes. The next few days were going to be very
interesting indeed.

Gohan stood with his head bowed in front of Chichi.
"But Mom I have to train! I have to be ready for the
fight!" protested Gohan.
"No way Gohan! I am not going to let you do this!"
insisted Chichi, her arms crossed determinedly.
Gohan sighed, "Mom I'm not going to disobey you but
this is serious enough that Piccolo said he'll do what he
did after Raditz died again if he has to."
Chichi stopped. "Well then you'll just fly back home!"
Gohan opened his mouth to protest that it wouldn't do any
good but Chichi wouldn't let him. "Gohan I hate to see you
fight and you know it."
Gohan took his mothers had, "Mom I know. I really do.
But the future of earth could be at stake here. And if not
then you have nothing to worry about!"
Chichi's eyes brimmed with tears, and full of
frustration. But deep down she knew she had to do what was
right.
She fell to her knees to hug Gohan furiously. "How
long?" she asked quietly. "Will Goku be back by then?"
Gohan hugged his mother back, realizing this meant she
was saying it was ok. Even if she could never say it aloud,
her fear wouldn't let her. "He won't be back mom." He said
slowly, "But Vegeta seems to be planning to help. And
there's Usagi-"
Chichi pulled back a little, her eyes going wide.
"Usagi's going to fight!" she exclaimed, "But she can't,
she's even more fragile and helpless then you!" Chichi shook
her head, "I think I've changed my mind. I don't want you
to fight, I want you to run as far away as possible! ......
And better yet! Take Usagi with you!"
Gohan took his mothers considerably larger, and yet
seemingly much more fragile hands in his. She was near
hysterical. "Mom I have to fight. And as for Usagi. Well
I know she can prove herself. She used to have a wonderful
power, and she'll get it back again." He insisted, and then
as if on a side not he added in a quieter voice, knowing
Chichi would start over-reacting even though she would want
to know where Usagi had vanished to. Carefully he added,
"Besides, Vegeta's gone off with her, and she's going to end
up improving even if it's just by fighting him off."
Chichi paled, "That creep Saiya-jin Vegeta kidnapped
Usagi?!?!"
Gohan nodded slowly; that was when Chichi passed out.

*

A few minutes later Gohan stood outside, on Capsule
Corp.'s grounds; Chichi now safely in bed. She might be
upset when she woke up but she would be fine for the most
part. He hated doing this to her but it was for the safety
of the Earth.
Gohan nodded to Piccolo, and the two took off into the
air to train.

~A Few Hours Later~

Sailor Moon ducked behind a boulder and took in a deep
breath. It was long and ragged but she was grateful for a
chance to catch it once more. She was covered in cuts and
bruises from Vegeta's vigorous attack. Both physical and ki
attacks. At one point he had tried to get her to de-
transform so that she could improve with more speed but she
had flat out refused.
And any second now Vegeta would come flying overhead
and give her maybe two seconds to try to dodge or fight
back. And it was definitely an opportunity he gave her.
Well she should consider herself to be lucky he gave her
that long at all really.
She took a deep breath and prepared for the onslaught
when nothing happened. She took a deep breath and turned
her head around the corner. No not there. She couldn't
hear him anywhere, he wasn't up above where could he be?
She considered lowering her guard for a moment but
then decided against it, he might be waiting for that, one
of those opportunities for him to spring on her. Or as he
had called them, punishment for slacking off.
She gritted her teeth and growled, "He's just trying
to drive me nuts I know!" she yelled to herself in
frustration! "This is just like that stupid elevator ride!"
She paused, nope no Vegeta, she was surprised, that
would have drawn him out for sure.
She paused abruptly, sniffing the air delicately. A
mad grin crept across her face, and she nearly started
drooling. Someone was eating fish nearby, and she hadn't
eaten in hours!
Quietly she crept around the crag she was hiding in
towards the smell. Gradually she could her the rush of a
small river, and here the crackling of a small campfire.
There with a fish speared on a stick, was Vegeta,
impatiently cooking his lunch.
Sailor moon grinned and detransformed before plopping
down beside Vegeta, he didn't move, he had obviously sensed
her approach.
"WOW!! Food!" she squealed happily, "I haven't eaten
in hours! I am sooo hungry I could eat three of Mako-chan's
meals and Mako-chan cooks a lot!" Vegeta rolled his eyes
slightly but still refrained from talking. Usagi's eyes
darted around the warm fire, and her suddenly expression
changed slightly. "Where's mine?" she asked, as if afraid
of having her hand bitten off.
Vegeta's face remained mostly impassive, but if you
looked closely enough there was a slight grin on his face.
"There is none. If you want to eat get it yourself."
Usagi's face fell, but the Saiya-jin wasn't finished, "Oh
and you have until I'm done to eat, then we start again."
Usagi bit her lip in worry, she'd never had to find
food in the wilderness before! She glanced at Vegeta, no he
wouldn't help her, and he probably didn't care if she passed
out from hunger. Her stomach growled and Vegeta gave her an
annoyed look, before deciding that his first fish was cooked
enough to not kill him from poisoning.
"Onegai, Vegeta." She said softly, a sliver of hunger
pains appearing in her stomach, "Just one fish! I'll go eat
it somewhere else if you want!"
Vegeta just looked at her sideways and shook his head.
"Now how do you expect to survive in the wilderness if you
can't catch your own food?" he said mockingly.
	Usagi's brow creased, "I don't. I mean I never intend
to-"
"Ah but it could still happen."
Usagi sighed, "Fine! You go eat your fish! I'm
leaving!"
Vegeta shrugged, "When I'm done I'll just follow your
ki towards you."
Usagi glared at him and walked away when she felt she
was out of ear width she started mumbling to her self about
all of the damn Saiyajin's faults, after about 5 minutes of
wandering and trying to ignore hunger pangs sat by the river
bank.
"I could catch a fish if I had a stick, rope and hook.
Unfortunately I only have sticks." She mused, "I could try
catch something..." she thought to herself. "Well it's
better than nothing!" she exclaimed and trudged off to see
what she could find.

*****

Chichi awoke groggily in her room at Capsule Corp.
sitting up suddenly she remembered why she had fainted. "Oh
that Gohan! Is he ever going to get in trouble when he gets
home!" she exclaimed, she thought it was too herself but a
distinct yelp of surprise alerted her that she was wrong.
"Chichi! You're awake, oh thank goodness. When Gohan
told me you had passed out, without explaining why, I was
worried." Exclaimed Bulma hurriedly.
Chichi sat on the bed, "Thanks for your concern Bulma
but Gohan's gone off to train with that scary Piccolo
because he said there's a new opponent coming to Earth."
Bulma nodded, it was her that had first known.
Chichi shook her head, "What if he gets hurt Bulma!
What then?!"
Bulma put a finger to her lips, "Well I wouldn't worry
about that, Piccolo will be there. And so will Vegeta even
though he acts like he doesn't care, and Usagi-chan will be
at the fight as well. And she's taken a liking to Gohan,
she and Piccolo wont let him get hurt."
	Chichi sniffled, "You think so?"
	Bulma nodded cheerfully, "Yep!"
Chichi let a tiny smile creep to her lips before
letting it fall again, "Oh Usagi-chan! Vegeta's kidnapped
her!"
Bulma bit her lip, "Ya, Gohan told me. But what can
we do? At the moment Vegeta's the strongest one here."
Chichi growled, "Oh when my Goku gets here he'll show
him what for!"
Bulma laughed, "Hey want to hear this story I picked
up while going through my archives earlier?" she asked
pulling out a few sheets of paper.
Chichi looked a Bulma quizzically, "I'm kind of old
for stories Bulma."
"Oh come on Chichi it's really neat, though sad, and
it's short too!" pleaded Bulma.
	Chichi sighed, "Ok Bulma whatever."
Bulma grinned, "Great. Well I found it accidentally
earlier today and it just caught my eye. It's called..."

Bulma's narrative

	The End and the Beginning

Over a thousand years ago there was a beautiful
kingdom of light. It was a time where everyone was happy
and all was peaceful. And a beautiful princess of hope
lived there falling in love and living a happy life as any
princess should. But this story is not about the kingdom of
light. But rather an evil force that sought to destroy it
and it's end.
This evil force was a beautiful woman, born to a man
she would never meet and a mother who would die trying to
attain her own evil goals. The beautiful woman was of the
purest evil, her only goal was two smother all the light in
the universe. Because as long as there was light in the
universe she could never be happy. A family curse written
long ago and another story altogether.
The woman in that time named Hoshi Samui sought to
destroy the kingdom by aiding a young woman with domination
plans of her own. She did this by dropping the generals of
the prince of a neighboring kingdom at her feet, four very
powerful men that would aid the woman greatly. And all
Samui asked for was to be the one to crush the queen of the
kingdom of light, she who killed her mother, and to have
possession of a small jewel.
At that time the woman knew not what the jewel meant
and was out only for revenge against the princess of the
kingdom for loving the prince, promising Samui the jewel and
the queen quickly so she could have her generals.
Samui left the woman to her own devices. It is said
the woman found another aid but that is another story.
And as the kingdom fell only the queen and the jewel
remained as promised, but as Samui came to claim her prize
the queen banished all evil, sending it into another
dimension and praying for the children of her kingdom to be
given another chance at life.
And while the queen's wish came true a rift in time
and space was created. And though the evil was sent to one
dimension known as Negaverse; the power of the crystal, a
strange power said to belong to Samui and possibly another
closer to the source, created not just the one dimension but
countless others as well. All remained normal in what is
now known as the first dimension. The children of light
were brought back to live a normal life.
Since the other dimensions were branches of the
original there would always be someone who had the free
spirit of the princess, be it man, woman or neither. And if
not the light would come eventually, the light that would be
the hope in that dimension's time of need.
Many threats lie in wait, many trials to be surpassed.
And in this land of uncertainty only one thing is known for
certain. Hoshi Samui will return, and when she does the
Princess will fight for her life and that of her friends
after having returned from the fifth armed with knowledge
and courage she will battle Samui. Only one question
remains, can she do it alone?
The world will see her safety even if it is in another
time and place, otherwise there is no hope.

Bulma sighed, "Sad but meaningful ne?"
Chichi nodded, "Hai, sounds a tad familiar. I think I
might have heard it before somewhere though.

Usagi sat by the river bank clutching her stomach in
pain, she had been dodging blasts from Vegeta all day
without a morsel of food and the way things were going she
wasn't going to get anything any time soon. She had found a
tiny berry bush but it had already been mostly picked over
and she had found about 2 berries on the whole thing.
She moaned as she thought of the wonderful smell of
fish roasting not far away on Vegeta's fire. She had peaked
in on him again to see him on what looked like his tenth
fish. He certainly has a big appetite.
Usagi propped her head up between her legs, she was
hungry, it was getting colder by the minute, and Vegeta was
trying to get her to fight when all she wanted to learn how
to do was control her rogue powers so that she didn't hurt
her friends. She hated fighting and yet it was her destiny,
how terribly ironic. And every time Usagi asked Vegeta why
he wouldn't just let her go home, saying that she gave up he
kinda looked up into the sky and changed the subject,
usually with a ki blast or another swing of the fist.
At first she had thought that maybe he just wanted to
see her give up. And after she was thoroughly convinced of
it she did. Just to get away from him, it wasn't really
giving up. More like trying a new tactic. The arrogant
Saiyajin even looked like he was ready to take her home.
Then suddenly he would get this look in his eyes, mumble
something about her needing training whether or not he
wanted to, and started attacking again.
Sufficed to say, she stopped the giving up tactic
pretty quickly.
But now she was hungry and tired, she sniffled a
little as she thought of home. Where her mom would have a
warm dinner sitting on the table for her, or maybe even
Mako-chan! She could read comic books, go on dates with
Mamo-chan, fight with Rei-chan, gossip with Minako-chan, and
even study occasionally with Ami-chan. Well really even
studying was better than this. A tiny crystal tear rolled
down her cheek.
"I'm not a warrior," she mumbled to herself, "I just
wanted to be an ordinary teenager and yet I end up in
situations like this all the time! And now I'm soo hungry.
And that damn vegetable head wont share his food because he
seems convinced that I can find some myself. But I've never
been alone in the wilderness before. And even if I wanted
to I have nothing to hunt with! Nothing that wouldn't blast
dinner to dust. I can't fish, I tried catching them with my
bare hands even and I only ended up getting wet. I'm so
homesick, I just want to curl up with Mamo-chan."
She sighed trying to get a bearing on Mamoru's
thoughts. He was happy for the most part, there was that
constant loss she seemed to get from him all the time now,
but nothing new. It seemed the girls and this Son Goku had
managed to cheer him up. Ah, well at least he was happy
right now.
She let another tear fall down her cheek, "Oh what I
wouldn't give for just one fish right now. Just one!"
Tears rolled down her cheeks, she looked out at the
river bed through shimmering, water-logged eyes. She knew
she should be strong, but she was just too hungry.

**

Vegeta licked his lips as he finished off the last of
his dinner. His eyes darting around every now and then. He
had expected the girl to come back by now. If not with food
then just to beg him for some. He might have given her
something to eat then, but now there was nothing left. He
frowned as he stood up. "She probably went a made a cooking
fire somewhere else." He muttered to herself, trying to get
a lock on her ki. It was difficult with her powered down
but eventually he got a lock. He shook his head. It was
always disturbing to sense a ki so low from one not about to
pass into another dimension. In fact most everything about
her disturbed him. Especially the way she didn't fight
back. That was just damn annoying.
He lifted off, leaving the fire to burn itself out,
not really caring if the whole planet caught on fire. He
had originally come here to destroy it anyway. Why should
he care?
With a surge of power he took off towards Usagi,
landing a good enough distance away from her to not notice
his approach. He climbed easily up on top of a nearby cliff
face to see his strangely acquired trainee crying by the
river. He rolled his eyes, "What a baby." He mumbled to
himself, but deep inside he cringed a little. Shaking his
head her pushed the feeling away. He didn't care if he had
hurt her, not one little bit! 'But I would have given her
food if she really couldn't find some for herself.' He
thought to himself.
He was about to move closer when suddenly he felt a
surge of ki coming from her. But it wasn't normal ki, it
was something different, not too powerful but very
interesting.
Abruptly one of the tears cascading down her cheek
started to glow and brighten. But the girl didn't seem to
notice at all. Vegeta's eyes narrowed slightly as the river
started to bubble a little and two fish came flying out to
land beside her.
Usagi jumped in shock and then a look of shocked joy
spread across her face. The ki disappeared and Vegeta
turned away. Someone was protecting the girl, it had to be
the only explanation. But the way the two fish jumped out
of the water. It wasn't as if they were thrown out, more
like they jumped out of their own will. Vegeta shook his
head. Usagi was bounding back towards the fire, he might as
well be there when she got back. Good thing he didn't put
the fire out after all.

***********

AHHH!!! It's done! It took me ages but I finally got Usagi
 and Vegeta training together! *giggles*

* Saiya-jin no ouji - Prince of the Saiya-jin

If you noticed any seemingly 1st person parts I was going to
change points of view but I decided against it. I shouldn't
have missed anything though...

Arigato for all the wonderful comments. I'm soooo happy!!!!

Next Time: A swimming competition, a new girl in town, Goku
eats, and another attack. What else? Oh ya! Silia finally
gets a last name after having only one name due to the fact
that she was evil at one point in time, of course thanks to
Setsuna no one notices.
