Disclaimer:  gargoyles is property of the almight mouse, and even

though they're not in this story, I felt I should cover it just in

case.  This story comes after the Change of Face Saga, which should

be read first in order for this to make sense.  And now, the story.

Destiny's Flame -- Prologue

--------------------------------------------------

In the vastness of existence, there is, not a universe, as most souls

believe, but a multiverse, an unlimited amount of possible

universes, some vastly different, others exactly the same, except for

the name of one person.

Now, in the normal course of things, these realities are kept

separate, but through the course of evolution, beings of many races

have discovered breaches in the dimensional fabrics of space-time,

gateways between realities, where one can cross from their reality

to others.

In a few rare cases, a device is created, a device which, when

properly calibrated, can open these dimensional breaches on command.

One such device had, millennia past, been created by a powerful fae.

No one knew which universe he came from, only that he had great

power.

It was with this great power that he forged Destiny's Gate. Created

from the very essence of the multiverse, the gate is a powerful

artifact, which can transport a traveller through space-time,

allowing them access to any dimension, at any time, on any planet.

The gate itself depicts a silver dragon in flight, upon a background

of deep jade green. Smaller than the Phoenix Gate, Destiny's Gate is

affixed to a magically unbreakable chain. Designed to be worn as a

pendant, the gate is activated when, in any language, someone yells

the simple phrase: 'Now would be a good time to go!'

Through the course of time, the gate has travelled from dimension to

dimension, looking for a special few known as Travellers. These

travellers keep the gate throughout their life time, subject to the

gate's whims, travelling to different realities, and helping those in

need.  When a Traveller dies, Destiny's Gate is lost in space-time,

until another Traveller emerges.

Through all eternity the Gate will search, until it finds, not a

Traveller, but ~The~ Traveller.  The one who cares enough to fight

every battle, to grieve the loss of every friend, and who will remain

with the gate until the end of time.

Now, through the intervention of Puck and the Weird Sisters, the gate

belongs to Cat. Now only time will tell if she is the one...

End.
