::Chapter 5::
KeriKoe reported the news of Reenie’s death back to Teero. "It’s such a shame Lunarians are so weak." She concluded, hoping to catch his attention. "Ah, KeriKoe, sweet, ignorant woman. If my Lunarian was weak, I wouldn’t have chosen her to be my Queen."
He stood to leave, then turned. "And if her mother knows she is on earth, which I am sure by now she does, then you must know the power of Queen Serenity and the moon are all Reenie needs to stay alive."
KeriKoe blinked.
That was true…
That meant…
"The wench is alive!"
She had some planning to do.
~~On Earth~~(Next Day)
"Reenie, we were worried about you the whole night!" Bulma hugged her as did Goku, Goten, Trunks and Vegeta. "It’s good to see you alive, kid." He said with his usual stern face.
"Reenie? Reenie’s alive! Get Gohan out here!" Chichi pulled the child to her and laughed. "We knew you wouldn’t leave us." Goku said, smiling.
Reenie smiled back. "Never." She said firmly. "Hey! You’re…you’re alive!" Gohan wrapped her in a tight hug sending shivers down her spine. She blushed furiously and gently pushed him away. Then she whispered, "I’m glad to see you too," in his ear and grinned. He grinned back and messed up her hair. "She’s one of the guys again!" He announced.
Chichi and Bulma exchanged looks while Vegeta rolled his eyes.
It had been an hour since Reenie’s awakening and Chichi decided to spring the news on Gohan and Reenie when everyone had gone. Reenie was about to leave when Chichi caught her and told her to sit at a table with Gohan. She looked questioningly at him but he just shrugged.
"Now then. I think it is best to say you both need to attend school pretty soon."
Gohan’s jaw dropped but Reenie smiled. "I remember school on earth! It was so fun and I got to meet other kids my age."
"Yes, but this school will be a little more challenging." Chichi said. "This is highschool. I’ve been picking out some of the best highschools and only came up with one."
Serena breathed and opened her eyes.
"Mina?" she asked quietly. "I’m here, Serena. Are you OK? You fell out on us."
"Yeah, after turning into the Queen for a second. We had to think up one major lie to tell the people who saw. Too bad the press got sight of you." Lita added.
"I’m sorry…I saw Reenie…she’s so old."
"Old?" Mina looked at Lita. "As in she’s a grandma?"
Serena laughed from the bed she was laying on. "She’s at least fourteen now. By the way, where am I?"
"We’re in a shelter room. It was the only thing that looked safe to us. The others are out scouting for Reenie. We can’t find her." Lita said sadly.
"She’s not in the park. She’s in somebody’s home, and she’s safe. But I still want her back. But I wish she hadn’t grown without me." Serena sat up and sniffled. "I missed four earth years of her growing up…four of them."
"But wait," Mina said, smiling suddenly. "Earth years for them aren’t like moon years for us! When Reenie gets back on the moon…she’ll only be ten…if I remember how to subtract right. Three times four is twelve, minus two years is…ten!"
Serena smiled. "I hope Darien won’t be too unhappy."
"As long as he gets you guys back he’ll be the happiest man in the world." Lita said.
Serena agreed silently.
Chichi groaned again as Reenie came out of the dressing room in something ugly and close to looking like boys clothing. "A dress, Reenie! You know what a dress is?"
"Yes, but I refuse to wear one."
Chichi stifled a growl and put on a tight smile, clenching her teeth. "This, Reenie, is the third time you’ve come out of the dressing room looking like you want to be a man." She unclenched her teeth. "Do you need help in finding a dress?"
Reenie looked down at the long, baggy pants she wore and the oversized shirt that went with it. It was a very comfortable outfit, loose and easy to fight in. A dress…nobody had ever seen her in a dress since she was nine.
"No, thanks. I’d rather wear something I like that something ever single guy likes."
Chichi curled her fingers into a tight fist and blew air out of her puffed up cheeks. "Hey, Reenie! Come here!" Reenie turned her head to Bulma’s voice. She was standing on the other side of the clothing store holding up something.
"A dress?" Chichi asked suspiciously.
"Don’t hold your breath." Reenie retorted, going over to Bulma.
"Hey, having trouble finding something to wear for school?" she smiled and held up the dress.
Reenie expected herself to turn the dress down without even looking at it like she had all the dresses Chichi had mentioned to her. But when she caught a glimpse of the outfit, she gawked.
Yes, it was a dress, but it was so beautiful! It was pure white, non-see through, with gold along the bottom. The same gold as along the bottom aligned the top. There were no sleeves on this dress. It was made to be form-fitting, and it came with white patent leather shoes.
Reenie stared at the shoes for several minutes before telling herself she’d never worn shoes like that before.
She looked back at Bulma’s smiling face and smiled wearily. "This isn’t something to wear to school, Bulma." She said finally. Bulma’s face fell, but she caught it and smiled sadly. "Oh, I see. Well," she shrugged, hurt, "I thought you might like it, but I guess I was—"
"Right." Reenie finished. Chichi and Bulma titled their heads, confused. "I adore this dress, Bulma-san. I just…it’s not something to wear to school, it’s too gorgeous. I will wear a skirt for the first day, but nothing so fancy."
Bulma agreed as did Chichi and in half an hour they were paying for a cart full of skirts, shirts and that magical dress.
Reenie sat in her room an hour later at home fingering the dress. "It’s so pretty." She said to herself, closing her eyes and falling back onto her bed.
In a flash she was in a brightly lit room with at least twelve chandeliers handing from a high ceiling. Reenie was in a dress similar to the one she bought, only it was full skirted, like a gown, strapless with gold along the front and bottom of the dress.
Her hair was down with a golden tiara low on her forehead. In her dream, Reenie was smiling wickedly with an upside-down looking dark moon on her forehead. Someone was saying something like, "Come, Wickedlady. Come home. You are putting your friends in grave danger. Leave them and come home. Come to your real home…"
Reenie sat up with sweat on her forehead and her hair sticking to her face. She wiped her brow and breathed deeply.
What was that? It must have just been a bad dream. She stood and turned to leave her room with a chill going down her spine.
"Hey, Reenie!" Reenie looked into the sky, which was darkening for it being close to night, at Gohan. "Hey Gohan. Chichi and them went home hours ago. You’re still here?"
"Mirai Trunks, me, and Trunks wanted to go fishing again. We didn’t realize how late it was until it got so cold."
"So where are the other guys?"
"We all split when we were fishing since we couldn’t find a good spot. They went different ways but I can’t find them. Wanna help?"
"Sure."
Gohan held his hand out to her from the sky. Reenie took it and in an instant was in his arms. He knew she knew how to fly, which made her even more curious as to why he was carrying her.
Gohan set her down on the top of a cliff right in front of the moon and stars.
Reenie stood to the side, waiting for him to speak.
"I think it’s time we tested your power." Gohan finally said quietly. Reenie, startled, did a double take at Gohan. "But—if you hadn’t noticed, you are the strongest man on earth! How am I supposed to beat you?!"
"And if you hadn’t noticed, you haven’t sparred with the guys once, nor have you even gotten off your lazy butt to do something other than eat or sit in that tree in the back of Bulma’s house." This time Mirai Trunks, who had appeared suddenly, was harshly yelling at her.
"We didn’t let you in the chamber for nothing. You wanted training, you got it. This is your second level training. Now that you know how to channel your ki and fly and stuff, we’re going to teach you how to dodge, fight."
Reenie was staring at the ground heatedly, anger rising. He didn’t have to yell at her. She’d gotten training, so what? That didn’t mean she had to fight everyone to prove she was stronger. Fighting didn’t solve everything. Sure, she loved the feel of a good spar…wait a minute; she’d never even sparred before! Except with her, but that didn’t count.
"OK." She looked up at Mirai as she said the word plainly. "You want to see what I’ve got, then come on."
Mirai Trunks got into fighting stance as did Reenie. Gohan lifted into the air and watched them.
With a flick of his wrist Mirai Trunks had shot a ki blast at Reenie, who blocked easily, and jumped into the air, then kicked her roughly from behind.
Reenie went flying forward but skidded to a halt and turned; too late.
As soon as she faced the other way a punch in the nose sent her back to the ground. Reenie coughed and ran her hand under her nose. Blood.
Now she was mad. "You’re not fighting, Reenie." Mirai yelled, sending a large ki blast at her. She dodged, threw out her leg, tripped him. She was about to shoot at him when he flew up and sent several painful blows to her chest, face and back. "Agh…!" Reenie screamed in pain, backflipped, caught Mirai Trunks in the jaw and landed, probing her sides for fatal damages.
She wasn’t paying attention…something told her to jump, but she looked up instead and watched Mirai Trunks’ stern face as he slammed his leg into her ribs, probably cracking some of them.
Reenie fell to her hands and knees.
<Giving up so easily?> she heard a voice inside of her say. She made a gut screaming sound as Mirai Trunks kicked her in the stomach. The wind was knocked out of her. She just wanted to lay down and never wake up. She fell over and clutched her stomach.
Mirai Trunks watched her for a second with no pity. He heard Gohan come up next to him; about to rescue Reenie and he grabbed Gohan’s arm. "No, Gohan. She has to fight back. Otherwise, what will she do when a real enemy comes? We didn’t have her train for nothing. She’s powerful, I know it."
"But—don’t you think she’s had enough? I think you broke her nose! It’s bleeding!"
Reenie closed her swollen eyes. <Awl, so Reenie really is a little baby.> Reenie recognized the sound of her own voice and told it to shut up. <I refuse. And anyway, looks like we need to have a little chat.> I’d rather die than talk to myself. I must be going crazy. <No, you’re not either. Look, chic, you wanna beat this jerk whose ready to practically kill you? Come on, just because you’re a girl doesn’t mean he’ll take it easy on you. He knows your power. You showed it to him when you came out of the Time Chamber, remember you wanting to impress the guys? This is what you get for bragging.> I’m not going to talk to myself, and I’m definitely not going to argue with myself. <Who’s arguing? I’m telling you the cold hard facts. How do you plan to fight this guy? Mirai Trunks is a pushover. Imagine what will happen when the real enemy comes.> What real enemy? <THAT’S NOT THE POINT! The point is that you’re not even trying. Where’d all that power go? Look, now he’s gonna shoot you for being such a wimp. You’re just like Serena the Crybaby.>
Reenie jolted. How could she say something so mean? Serena the human may have been whiny and a crybaby, but her mother, Serenity, was a real warrior. A kindhearted Queen with no hate in her heart whatsoever. And Reenie was Serenity’s daughter. Reenie wasn’t kind in her years on earth to Serena, but she was just as good as Serenity. Serenity’s warrior blood flowed through Reenie too, and she would prove it…
Now.
Reenie’s eyes opened slowly, her bruises no longer aching, wind returned. Mirai Trunks stood in the air with his hands over his head. He was calling his fathers attack. "Gali Gun Haa!" He shot it down at Reenie in a blast of power.
Reenie’s eyes glazed over to a platinum color. Her hair began change. Instead of the bun she was wearing it in, the elastic band that held her bun broke free sending her hair down her back like a long pink waterfall.
The blast was still coming toward her.
She held up her own hands.
Her hair had changed into the Princess Hair Style, and now she wore her princess attire, her hair so fine it looked white.
Her lips were pink; she looked just like Serena with platinum eyes and silvery white hair.
"Moon Millennium Shining Light."
The words had come out slowly, smoothly. The blast was right in front of her nose now, and it had stopped. A blast of light shot forth from Reenie disintegrating the blast into tiny shattering pieces of light that glittered gloriously like the stars.
As Reenie slowly put her hands down she started to turn back into her normal self until she was just the regular Reenie with pink hair falling over her face, shoulders and arms. Reenie looked up to the sky, tears glittering on her face.
"For a minute," she whispered, "for a minute I felt…I felt home."
Mirai Trunks, his mouth wide open, brows furrowed, tried to say something but only came up with little gawking noises.
Gohan was looking at Reenie strangely. She had been so beautiful.
She was an angel.
Gohan shook his head. Where had that come from? But it was true. As soon as she turned into that heavenly angel, he had almost turned to putty right there on the spot. He wondered if she could do that more often.
Gohan felt a new kind of love for Reenie. Not the sister brother love he had always felt since he had first met her, but the love you would feel for someone you wanted to keep forever. Someone you wanted to—to be—
And then it hit him. He was going to smile, but then he blushed, then looked at Reenie. She was on her knees, looking at the moon with a sort of mist in her pretty eyes.
He observed her silently. He watched the way the wind blew hair out of her face, as if it didn’t want strands of silken lace to cover up the image of her angelic face. Yup. Gohan had definitely just fallen in love with Reenie.
Why didn’t he before he saw her as an angel, though? She’d always been there for him, always been there to talk to him, make him laugh. Sometimes he would just like to listen to the hum of her talking while he fell asleep or daydreamed.
He should have fallen in love with her long ago…or had he already and just not realized it? Whatever it was, he wanted to be as close to Reenie as he could.
Mirai Trunks grinned to himself while flying home. Gohan and Reenie hadn’t even noticed he had left. Reenie was too infatuated with the moon, and Gohan was too infatuated with Reenie.
So maybe it was possible those two would get together. Everyone, besides the clueless Gohan, knew Reenie was positively in love with Gohan. She blushed whenever she saw him.
Then he stopped cold in the air, a new kind of fear taking hold.
"Didn’t Piccolo destroy the moon?" He shot his head up to the sky. It was there. It must have been real if Reenie was calling her power from it…then what did Piccolo destroy? A false moon?
Nobody must have noticed because most of the Z warriors took the moon for granted and didn’t even pay it any mind.
Mirai Trunks sped off toward home.
He had something to discuss with Bulma.
"What is your wish, Lady KeriKoe?"
KeriKoe had summoned one of her henchmen. "Go. I want you to go to earth and destroy this one." She pointed to a picture of Reenie hanging on the palace’s hall wall. "To show she is dead, bring her body here. To me, but tell no one you have her. If you fail, I shall personally dispose of you. Do you understand, Keno?"
Keno nodded, his experience with killing wonderful. "But might I suggest something, My Lady?"
KeriKoe looked at him, amused. "What?"
"The one Reenie will be starting school tomorrow, you say?"
"Yes, what does that have to do with anything?"
"Ah, it is a wonderful detail. I can go to earth pretending I am a student at the school Reenie is to attend. With your spells change me into a young man of Reenie’s age, so that I might win her trust, get her alone, and kill her."
KeriKoe thought this over, smiling. "Keno, you should be rewarded for your brain. Yes, come with me."
She led him down the hall to her personal chamber, making sure Teero wasn’t in sight. "Sit." She pointed to a stool by her window and opened cabinets full of potions and spells and books while he sat. "When you have finished your task the spell should wear off."
"Here it is!" she took the glass out of her cabinet and gave it to Keno. "Drink it all." He drank, and with a low growl in his throat was changed to look Reenie’s age.
Keno laughed, refreshed. The fun was over.
It was time to kill Reenie.
That was fun… Anyway, next chapter is gonna be full of surprises. A little of this, a bunch of that.
OK, see what’s gonna happen is….wait a minute, I can’t tell you, remember? It’S A SU RP RISE
